Hi all!
Today is the day for Proverbs 22! But before i get into it, I wanted to let y’all in on a little funny moment i had with myself.
So I’ve always seen content creators and things of that nature have like a cute name for those who support them. I think it’s called “Fandoms” or something. (Ex. Kelly Rowland – Rowland Stones, Kenya Moore – Team Twirl, olivia Rodrigo – Livies) Sorry i couldn’t think of any Christian ones or anything… Shoot maybe that says something. idk. But anyway i was trying to think of one for those who end up supporting my jewelry business and/or blog because i just find it cute and I thought of POCs (People of Christ)… But then i was like… Mm everyone might not fit that description for one and for two… Dang it! That means People of Color!! Bahahahahahaaha 😅😂🤣 Needless to say… That will not be a thing over here lol But I just got a good laugh out of it 😆
Now… Into this word…
Reading Proverbs 22 this morning, some of the main take aways from the chapter for me were to live right (fear the Lord), stay away from troublesome situations and company and be good to the poor/less fortunate. Not following these rules of wisdom will result in consequences. I’ll list each of these things i learned below with the verses that I think support those lessons below.
Live right (Fear the Lord)
- Proverbs 22:1 because it states that keeping a “good name” (living in integrity, honesty and responsibility) is more important than any wealth you could attain
- Proverbs 22:4 Says that humility and a fear of the Lord results in wealth, honor & life
- Proverbs 22:8 Says that if you’re out here being wicked you’ll have consequences
- Proverbs 22:12 States that God watches of those who follow him but those who don’t and are unfaithful bring problems and disaster to themselves
- Proverbs 22:17-19 Pretty much says to listen to those who are wise and of the Lord because it’ll have pleasing results and bring you closer to and build your trust in the Lord
Stay away from troublesome situations and company
- Proverbs 22:3 It says that someone who’s wise sees danger and avoids it but someone who’s not suffers from not avoiding it
- Proverbs 22:10 Stay away from negative people and life will be more peaceful
- Proverbs 22:14 Says if you listen and get lured in by a hoe (for lack of better word) trouble will come your way
- Proverbs 22:24 Don’t hang around people with bad tempers because it can rub off on you and ruin your soul
Be good to the poor/less fortunate
- Proverbs 22:9 Give to & help those in need and you’ll be blessed
- Proverbs 22:16 Says not to oppress those who are already at a disadvantage to benefit those who aren’t
- Proverbs 22:22 Don’t put those in need down. God has their backs and you’ll end up paying for it (not literally.. or maybe 🤷🏽♀️)
And last but far from least is Proverbs 22:6 on how you should raise your children. It seems to be a favorite among a lot of people because I’ve seen wall decor and everything with this this scripture on it.
&& Yet again, If you got any other interpretations from any of these scriptures or something in this chapter that stood out to you wasn’t mentioned. Feel free to comment!
