Hi All
Chapter 26 of Proverbs discussed lying, being lazy, gossiping, being a fool, humility and quite a few more things. It’s lesson packed for sure.
Right out the gate it said that fools are not worthy of being honored [Proverbs 26:1]. While i used to think a fool just meant “dumb” for lack of better words, I’ve learned that it’s simply someone who lacks wisdom, discernment or good sense.
Plenty more verses spoke on fools in this chapter including: (The list contains my personal takeaways)
-Proverbs 26:3 If you don’t listen to God you’ll suffer the consequences
-Proverbs 26:4 Don’t stoop to the level of a fool and speak like them
-Proverbs 26:5 Sometimes you have to set a fool straight on something so they know they’re not right
-Proverbs 26:6 It’s not wise to send a message through a fool
-Proverbs 26:7 There’s no use in a fool trying to speak parables
-Proverbs 26:8 The honor given to a fool will be temporary
-Proverbs 26:9 Restates that fools shouldn’t speak in parables… It can cause harm
-Proverbs 26:10 It’s not wise to hire a fool or a random
When it comes to the lazy, it says: (Again, personal takeaways listed)
-Proverbs 26:13 Lazy people will make up excuses just to avoid doing anything
-Proverbs 26:14 They go back and forth but never truly go anywhere
-Proverbs 26:15 I’m still praying on this… not quite sure what that could mean. If you have an idea please let me know!
Sticking to my usual… I’m going to leave it to you to actually read the chapter and take notes for yourself to get into the other topics within the chapter 😁 But I’ll remind you of of few of them (lying, gossip, humility)

P.S. My favorite verse from this chapter is Proverbs 26:11. It gives a gross visual but it lets you know that it’s foolish to repeat the same mistakes 🫣 He is stepping right on my neck with that one. I’m sure most people would have to admit that there’s been at least one mistake they’ve repeated but the wording of that verse really does something for me… To the point where looking back I’m genuinely disgusted by some of the mistakes a remade 😬 Sheesh
