Peter’s Denial

In the New Testament, Peter, one of Jesus’ closest disciples, denied knowing Jesus three times after Jesus’ arrest. This happened in the courtyard of the high priest, despite Peter’s earlier declaration that he would never abandon Jesus. Following the third denial, a rooster crowed, reminding Peter of Jesus’ prediction and causing him to weep bitterly.  Jesus predicts that Peter will deny him three times before the rooster crows. – Matthew 26:31-35
